Torimonogatari: NISIOISIN’s latest entry in the popular MONOGATARI series has made a strong debut in Japan, claiming the top position on this week’s Oricon weekly light novel sales chart.
The newly released novel sold an estimated 7,632 physical copies during the week, putting it comfortably ahead of the other titles in the ranking. Meanwhile, WITCH ON THE HOLY NIGHT, Part 1 slipped to second place, while a new short-story collection from Though I Am an Inept Villainess entered the chart at No. 3.
Torimonogatari Takes the Top Spot
Released in Japan on September 4, Torimonogatari immediately entered the weekly ranking at No. 1.
The latest full-length novel in the MONOGATARI franchise recorded approximately 7,632 copies sold, accounting for around 25.3% of the total estimated sales among this week’s Top 10 titles.
Its first-week performance gives the new novel a strong start and highlights the continued popularity of NISIOISIN’s long-running series.
WITCH ON THE HOLY NIGHT Falls to No. 2
WITCH ON THE HOLY NIGHT, Part 1 dropped from the previous week’s No. 1 position to No. 2 this week.
The title recorded estimated sales of 3,930 copies, a significant decline from the 19,560 copies it sold during the previous week. This represents a week-over-week decrease of approximately 79.9%.
Despite the drop in weekly sales, the novel’s estimated cumulative physical sales have now reached 23,490 copies.
Though I Am an Inept Villainess Collection Enters at No. 3
A new release has also made its way into the upper part of the chart. Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Short Story Collection 1 debuted at No. 3, selling an estimated 3,755 copies.
The entry contributed to a major reshuffling of this week’s Top 10, with only three titles from the previous week’s ranking managing to remain on the list.
Major Changes Across the Top 10
This week’s light novel chart saw considerable movement compared with the previous week.
Maho Shojo no Majo Saiban slipped from No. 3 to No. 7, while the latest Kirby novel fell from fourth place to No. 10.
Seven of the ten titles featured this week were new additions that did not appear in last week’s Top 10, demonstrating how significantly the rankings changed.
KADOKAWA was particularly prominent, placing six titles among the week’s Top 10, giving it the largest representation of any publisher on the chart.
Weekly Light Novel Sales Fall Overall
Although several new releases performed well, total sales across the Top 10 were lower than the previous week.
The ten highest-ranked titles collectively sold an estimated 30,122 copies, compared with 42,268 copies the week before. That amounts to a decline of approximately 28.7%.
