Railway passengers travelling through Delhi-NCR may face disruptions this weekend as Northern Railway has announced major changes to train operations in view of the upcoming BRICS Summit in Delhi.
Several trains operating through New Delhi, Old Delhi, Ghaziabad, Palwal and nearby railway divisions will be cancelled, diverted, partially cancelled or rescheduled between September 11 and September 13, 2026.
Northern Railway has already issued a revised operational plan, with changes to some services beginning September 10. Passengers travelling during this period are advised to check the latest train status and revised schedule before leaving for the station.
Train Cancellations and Route Changes on September 11
A number of passenger and EMU services will be affected on September 11. The changes include cancellations, route diversions and shortened journeys.
Some of the key changes are:
- 64015 PWL–SSB EMU will remain cancelled.
- 64429 GZB–NDLS EMU and 64433 GZB–NDLS EMU will operate on altered routes.
- 64492 NDLS–PALWAL Ladies EMU will be cancelled.
- 64491 Delhi Jn–Shamli EMU will also be cancelled.
- Several important long-distance trains will be diverted through the New Delhi–Delhi Junction–Sahibabad route.
Passengers may also see shorter journeys on certain services, including the 15307 Haryana Express and 64110 New Delhi–Aligarh EMU. Some trains are expected to operate later than their regular schedules.
More Trains Cancelled on September 12
The operational restrictions will continue on September 12, affecting additional local and passenger services.
Among the trains listed for cancellation are:
- 64425 Ghaziabad–New Delhi EMU
- 64432 New Delhi–Ghaziabad EMU
- 64013 Palwal–Shakurbasti EMU
- 64015 Palwal–Shakurbasti EMU
- Several other services operating through the affected railway sections
The changes are expected to particularly impact daily commuters who depend on EMU and other short-distance services between Delhi, Ghaziabad and Palwal.
Link Trains Also Affected
Northern Railway has clarified that the operational changes are not limited to the main services. Some link trains connected with affected services will also have their originating stations changed or may be cancelled.
For example, the link train 64110, associated with service 64429, will originate from Ghaziabad instead of its regular starting point.
Passengers using connecting or linked services should therefore verify their complete journey details rather than checking only the main train number.
Rajdhani Express Trains to Run on Diverted Routes
Several premium and long-distance trains departing from New Delhi will also be affected by the changes.
Between September 11 and September 13, Rajdhani Express services travelling from New Delhi towards destinations including Ranchi, Dibrugarh, Sealdah, Howrah and Bhubaneswar are expected to operate through alternative routes.
These trains will be diverted via sections including Sahibabad, Old Delhi and Delhi Shahdara.
The revised routing is part of the Railways’ operational arrangements during the summit period.
Sampoorna Kranti, Gomti Express and Other Trains Diverted
The route changes will also affect several major superfast and express services.
Trains such as:
- Sampoorna Kranti Express
- Gomti Express
- Shramjeevi Express
- Magadh Express
- Swatantrata Senani Express
will operate through diverted routes during the affected period.
These changes could result in altered arrival and departure timings for passengers travelling to or through Delhi.
Delhi-NCR Train Services Likely to Face Disruptions
According to Northern Railway’s operational plan, the restrictions are being implemented for operational reasons during the BRICS Summit period. Northern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay has issued details of the revised train operations.
The changes are likely to affect both daily commuters and long-distance railway passengers travelling through key stations and railway divisions around Delhi.
