Bollywood actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is facing legal trouble after a petition was filed in Agra over her controversial remarks about Gen Z and students who participated in protests related to the education system.
An MP/MLA court in Agra has admitted the petition filed by advocate Rama Shankar Sharma. The court has scheduled August 21 for the next hearing in the matter.
Petition Alleges Insult to Students and Their Parents
According to advocate Rama Shankar Sharma, the petition relates to comments allegedly made by Kangana Ranaut about students protesting over the paper leak controversy. He claimed that the actor-turned-politician not only criticised the protesters but also made objectionable statements concerning their parents.
Sharma said the matter is particularly serious because it involves students and their future. He stated that the petition was filed before the Special Court for MPs/MLAs in Agra and has now been admitted for hearing.
The advocate further said that he would consider approaching the sessions court if the petition is rejected by the Agra court.
What Did Kangana Ranaut Say About ‘Generation Gutter’?
The controversy began after Kangana Ranaut criticised young people participating in protests at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak controversy and alleged irregularities in the education system.
In social media posts, Ranaut questioned the way some young protesters, particularly women, were presenting their views on independence and personal freedom. She also criticised certain slogans, language and social media videos connected with the demonstrations.
Ranaut described some of the content as offensive and accused sections of the younger generation of demanding independence while remaining financially dependent on their families.
Kangana’s Remarks Sparked Strong Reaction
In her comments, Ranaut used the phrase “Generation Gutter” while targeting what she described as irresponsible behaviour among some young women.
She alleged that certain protesters openly promoted lifestyles involving drugs, alcohol and casual relationships while continuing to rely on their parents financially. She also questioned whether such individuals were prepared to take responsibility for an independent life.
Her remarks quickly attracted criticism, with opponents accusing her of making derogatory generalisations about students and young people involved in the protests.

The petition now puts the controversial remarks under legal scrutiny. The upcoming hearing on August 21 is expected to determine how the court proceeds with the matter.
