Telegram Disappeared From App Store Searches
Users from several regions reported that Telegram no longer appeared in Apple App Store search results, making it impossible to install the app on new Apple devices.
However, those who had already downloaded Telegram before the incident experienced no service disruption. Existing chats, messages, and app functionality remained unaffected throughout the temporary removal.
The app later reappeared on the App Store, allowing downloads to resume as normal.
No Official Reason Behind the Temporary Removal
The sudden disappearance sparked widespread discussion on social media, with users speculating about possible technical issues, policy violations, or regulatory actions.

Russia Charges Pavel Durov Over Terrorism Allegations
Last week, Russian authorities formally charged Telegram founder Pavel Durov with allegedly facilitating terrorist activity through the messaging platform.
According to Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), Ukrainian intelligence agencies allegedly used a Telegram chatbot called Daivinchik (Leo) to recruit young Russians for acts of sabotage.
Investigators claimed that operatives posed as young women to persuade recruits to target transportation networks, energy facilities, communication systems, and financial infrastructure.
Russian officials said 46 individuals between the ages of 12 and 22 were arrested over the past year in connection with the alleged recruitment campaign.
The FSB also announced that Durov had been placed on an international wanted list, although authorities did not clarify how they intended to pursue the request.
Durov Rejects All Allegations
Pavel Durov has denied any wrongdoing.
According to Reuters, he maintains that Telegram complies with legal requirements by actively moderating harmful content and cooperating with law enforcement when appropriate, while continuing to protect user privacy and freedom of expression.
Durov, who now holds both French and Emirati citizenship after leaving Russia, has consistently defended Telegram’s approach to privacy and encryption.
Legal Challenges Extend Beyond Russia
Telegram’s regulatory challenges are not limited to Russia.
In 2024, Durov was arrested in France as part of an investigation into allegations that Telegram failed to adequately prevent criminal activity and did not sufficiently cooperate with authorities.
Although he was later permitted to leave France, the investigation remains ongoing.
Meanwhile, Australia’s online safety regulator recently initiated legal proceedings against Telegram, alleging the platform failed to remove violent extremist content promptly.
Telegram has rejected those claims, stating that it has removed more than 150,000 terrorism-related communities from the platform this year.

With its strong focus on privacy and encrypted communication, Telegram has increasingly become a focal point in discussions surrounding digital security, online moderation, and government regulation.
