Social media influencer Anjali Arora, widely known for the viral song Kacha Badam, has landed in a legal dispute with the organisers of a Dandiya event held in Kanpur. The organisers have reportedly sent a defamation notice to the actress and her manager, Preeti Dubey, demanding ₹1.20 crore in damages and a public apology.

The dispute relates to the Nagada Night Dandiya event held on October 15, 2026. The organisers have accused Arora of unprofessional conduct and making remarks that allegedly damaged their reputation. They also claim that the incident resulted in substantial financial losses.

Advocate Karim Ahmed Siddiqui issued the legal notice on October 23, 2026, on behalf of Ashish Kumar, who handled marketing for the event. The notice also names Arora’s manager, Preeti Dubey.

The organisers, including Anubhav Raj and Ashish Gupta, have alleged that Arora’s conduct caused financial losses of ₹20 lakh. They are seeking ₹1 crore for the alleged damage to their reputation, bringing the total compensation demanded to ₹1.20 crore.

According to their account, Arora was scheduled to appear at Lajpat Bhawan Lawn in Kanpur at 9 PM but arrived on stage at approximately 9:45 PM. With the event required to conclude by 10 PM due to the curfew, the organisers claim that her delayed appearance significantly reduced the time available for the performance.

Another point of disagreement reportedly involved Arora’s viral track Kacha Badam. The organisers allege that she objected when the DJ played the song during the event, leading to a dispute.

They also claimed that ₹75,000 of the final payment was withheld as a security measure and was supposed to be released upon her arrival. According to the organisers, disagreements also arose over coordination with her team and demands for full payment in advance.

The notice further alleges that Arora made abusive remarks about the people of Kanpur, which the organisers believe harmed their reputation.

Anjali Arora Denies Allegations, Raises Safety Concerns

Arora has rejected the allegations against her, particularly the claim that she objected to Kacha Badam being played at the event.

On October 19, 2026, she explained that the song remains an important part of her identity and has brought her considerable affection from fans.

She maintained that her remarks were directed at individuals who allegedly mistreated her rather than the people of Kanpur as a whole. She also apologised to her fans for any misunderstanding caused by the controversy.

Arora has additionally raised concerns about her safety during the visit. She alleged that the car arranged to pick her up already had three men inside when she arrived.

She further claimed that around 25 people accompanied her to her hotel room and that men repeatedly entered the room along with a waiter when she ordered food. According to Arora, the doorbell was also repeatedly rung at intervals of approximately 10 minutes, leaving her feeling unsafe.

The influencer has challenged the organisers to produce evidence supporting their allegations. She has also confirmed that her legal team is actively addressing the matter.

The legal notice reportedly gives Arora and her manager 15 days to meet the demands, which include paying ₹1.20 crore in damages and issuing a public apology.

The organisers have warned that further legal proceedings will follow if the demands are not met within the stipulated period.

The dispute has seen both sides present contrasting accounts of what happened during the October 15 event. While the organisers have alleged financial loss and reputational damage, Arora has denied the accusations and raised concerns about her treatment and safety in Kanpur. The matter is now being handled by the respective legal teams.
