Salman Khan Remembers Nana Patekar With Heartfelt ‘Rest in Peace Bhau’ Message

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan paid a heartfelt tribute to veteran actor Nana Patekar following news of his passing. Remembering the actor affectionately as ‘Bhau’, Salman shared a black-and-white photograph of him on Instagram Stories with the message, “Nanaaaaaaaaaa Rest in peace bhau….”

Salman and Nana Patekar previously shared screen space in the 1996 musical drama Khamoshi: The Musical. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the film also featured Manisha Koirala and Seema Biswas in important roles.

In Khamoshi: The Musical, Nana Patekar portrayed Joseph Braganza, while Salman Khan played Raj. The film remains one of their notable shared projects.

Following Nana Patekar’s passing, Manisha Koirala also expressed her grief and paid tribute to the veteran performer. Remembering his talent and commitment to acting, she highlighted his lasting contribution to Indian cinema.

In a post on her official social media account, Manisha wrote, “Deeply saddened by the passing of a great actor, a remarkable presence and a true stalwart of the craft. His contribution to cinema and his dedication to his craft will always be remembered. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

Shah Rukh Khan Recalls His First Meeting With Nana Patekar

Several other Bollywood personalities also remembered Nana Patekar through emotional social media posts. Among them was Shah Rukh Khan, who shared a personal memory of his first encounter with the late actor.

Recalling the meeting, Shah Rukh revealed that he had been extremely nervous and was repeatedly adjusting his hair. Nana, known for his straightforward nature, reportedly slapped his hand away and told him, ‘hero ki tarah Baal mat bana…tu actor hai’!

Shah Rukh reflected on Nana’s honest approach and the way he guided people around him. In his Instagram tribute, he described the veteran actor as someone who never offered empty praise but instead spoke candidly, even when his words were difficult to hear.

“He didn’t flatter you. He didn’t tell you what you wanted to hear. He told you what you needed to hear. That was Nana. Straightforward. Rough, honest and had the most beautiful smile”, Shah Rukh Khan wrote on IG.

The superstar also recalled how Nana Patekar expressed care and affection in his own distinctive manner. According to Shah Rukh, the actor would often begin by scolding someone, only for his warmth to become apparent through the interaction.

“He would shout at you first, and then somewhere between the third or fourth insult, you realised you were being hugged. He loved me and I loved him back. He was a mentor, a teacher, a critic and a friend who beat me and everyone else around him in carrom game after game and relished his victories.”

Shah Rukh’s tribute highlighted the personal bond they shared, remembering Nana not only as an accomplished actor but also as a mentor, friend and fiercely honest individual.
