Veteran actor Jackie Shroff paid tribute to legendary actor and filmmaker Dev Anand on his 103rd birth anniversary, remembering the important role the late star played in the early stages of his film career.
Jackie shared a collection of throwback photographs of Dev Anand on Instagram. The post featured several black-and-white pictures of the iconic actor, along with a rare photograph of Jackie and Dev Anand together.
Jackie Shroff Remembers Dev Anand
Sharing the pictures, Jackie expressed his gratitude to Dev Anand for giving him his first opportunity in the film industry. He wrote, “With Dev Saab’s blessings, I took my first steps into the world of cinema! Remembering him on his birth anniversary with immense love, respect, and gratitude!”
Jackie Shroff began his acting career with a small role in Dev Anand’s 1982 film Swami Dada. Dev Anand reportedly noticed Jackie through a hoarding advertisement while he was working as a model, eventually giving him an opportunity in the film.
Jackie Shroff and Dev Anand Worked Together Again
The professional association between Jackie Shroff and Dev Anand continued in the years that followed. The two worked together in Censor in 2001 and Chargesheet in 2011, with Dev Anand serving as the director of both films.
Chargesheet, released in 2011, was Dev Anand’s final film as both an actor and director.
Remembering Dev Anand’s Legacy
Born on September 26, 1923, Dev Anand became one of the most celebrated stars of Hindi cinema. His career spanned more than six decades, during which he appeared in several films that continue to remain popular with audiences.
His notable films include Baazi, Taxi Driver, CID, Kala Pani, Guide, Jewel Thief, Johny Mera Naam and Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Beyond acting, Dev Anand also established himself as a filmmaker and producer through Navketan Films.
For his contribution to Indian cinema, Dev Anand received the Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2002.
